Pedi-party

yep, green polish!

Today I had the opportunity to attend a pedi-party! A group of gals from work got together and did a little bit of pampering. It was my first real pedicure and I. LOVED. IT. I loved the pumicing, the salt scrub, the massage, and the parafin wax (oh that felt so good). I especially love my green toenails! I had a lot of fun and I'm so thankful to work with such a great group of people. It takes special people to do our jobs, and we've got 'em!

Also tonight, Chris took the boys to a stake Fathers and Sons campout. So Anna and I decided to have a "girls night". We went to Old Navy and bought her a new swimsuit and some matching flip flops. Then we went to Applebee's for dinner. (remind me that I really don't love that place). Then we rented "Hotel for Dogs" and we both watched the whole thing without falling asleep! A miracle! I love spending time with Anna. She's really growing up and getting to be so smart. She's also really funny! I can't believe how fast the time is going by and I hope that she will never stop wanting to have "girl time".

She's in!

Just got a call from the new school. Anna got in! I am so excited.

She may not be....

When I was talking to Connor about him going, she was very much in oppostion. "I am NOT going to go there." Well, since she's 7 and I'm the mom, she IS going to go there.

Any good ideas to help make this a fun thing for her? I plan on telling her after school today, I want her to be happy and excited about it all.

This is such a good thing for her.

future food

Today I went to the Rockin' E country store in Woods Cross (it's my favorite for plants) and bought some pea seeds, zuchinni seeds, and a bunch of tomato plants (gulp, 17--if I don't get tons I'll be mad!) . Connor and Anna had a birthday party so Tristan and I planted the peas. We love us some pea pods. I'm hoping to get the plants in the ground this week. I want to make tomato juice and stewed tomatoes to eat all next winter. Now that's some comfort food for me! Cross your fingers that the tomatoes grow this year--big red, beautiful, delicious tomatoes. I can hardly wait. I'm also hoping to get some lemon cucumber plants, but Rockin' E didn't have any of those yet. I'll keep checking back.

update (for lack of a better title)

First off, I updated my book page. See here. I read quite a few books in April. Not any 4 or 5 stars though. Right now I'm reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown and I think it will get more than 3 stars. Any recommendations are welcome.

Things have been crazy busy. Mostly because Chris has been out of town, things are just easier and better when he's around. Also, our school had a big fundraiser/auction/performance that kept us busy, but my dad was able to come and that was so much fun to have him there with us. And also, I have a church calling that keeps me hopping as well (hoping that will slow down once camp gets over in June). BUT... I'm glad that Chris is talented and able to get requested for good jobs, even if that means him leaving town for a few days. He's a good provider and does what he needs to do to take care of our family. The school year is winding down, and every year is like this. It's just busy trying to get everything in that needs to get in. Tristan gets to go on a field trip to Lagoon and Anna gets to go on a field trip to the Zoo. Hopefully Connor's class will go on a fun field trip as well. Now that we have a camp director called (and excited for her new calling) my life will be much easier! Our big fundraiser is Saturday (Spaghetti dinner, cake auction, and bake sale. If you want to help out, let me know! ) Things are really good. Just busy.

I know this post is kind of jumbled, but I needed some kind of an update. Also, I have bit of allergies going on so I will quote a Kindergartner from my school who summed it up quite nicely, "My nose is full of pollen!" YUCK!

some changes.....

Connor's name got picked from a waiting list for a new school. It's a school that I've been trying to get both Connor and Anna in for a couple of years now. Once he gets registered, Anna's name will move up on the list as a Sibling Priority. He's really excited, and so I am. I think I'm more nervous than he is though.

I don't have any complaints about the school he is going to right now. The biggest issue is that it is a school for kids with High Functioning Autism and Aspergers Syndrome. He does not have either of these. It's been a good school and all the kids have learned a lot, but it's time for something more. I hope things go well for him (and hopefully Anna) and that we are all able to adjust to the new change.

This change will take place for the next school year. Wish us lots of luck!

All I want to be is a Mom

I don't have a college degree.
I have no aspirations to have one. (at least at this time in my life)

I don't feel like this is a bad thing.

I know lots of people (my age type people) that are going back to school, getting degrees. I'm so proud of them for doing so.

I just don't wanna.

What I DO want to do is be a good mom and a good wife.
I want to have a nice peaceful loving home. A clean home.
I want to have time to bake yummy after school treats. I want to prepare fun family home evening lessons. I want to spend time with Chris, who works odd hours.
I want to have another baby.
So, I talked to my boss on Friday. I told her that I wanted to cut back. Maybe work 1 or 2 days as a substitute. She is willing to work with me. I have an awesome boss.

I just feel like I need to be home more. I feel like it is right and what I should be doing. I feel my family will be blessed in many ways by this decision. Everyone needs to do what is right for them and their family.
A few years down the road, this may all change. But for now, all I want to be is a mom. And a wife.

New Love

On Thursday, I got to witness a very blessed event. My best friend got married! April and Scott Giauque were married for Time and Eternity in the Bountiful Temple. I am so happy that they found each other and already have a great family. It's been a long road April, but you now have a super special companion to travel it. I know that together you can do anything!

Thanks for letting me be a part of this Mr. and Mrs. Giauque! I'll even give you my deviled egg recipe! Good luck in all you do, I love seeing the happiness you two share!
