So a few of my friends have asked for more details about the pregnancy.
First off, I'm now 13 weeks along. The estimated due date is August 21. Which is my sister-in-law Angie's birthday and exactly a month in between both my parent's birthdays (dad is July 21 and mom is Sept 21).
I stopped taking birth control at the end of July. My cycle was all messed up! I even went to the doctor and he thought that maybe I had premature ovarian failure. I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to get pregnant. Then my period finally started (after like 65 or so days). I just figured that I had a long cycle and the doctor said to tell him if it happened again. So after another long cycle I finally did a home pregnancy test on my birthday, Dec 5th. It was negative. So I decided I'd wait until our anniversary and take another one and if it turned out negative I would call the doc again.
I didn't have any HPTs on our anniversary so I bought one the next day (Dec 17th). Went home and took it right away (usually I wait for the first morning urine, but couldn't wait!) It was postive. I couldn't believe it! I was so happy, excited, surprised, etc. I wanted to tell Chris right away, but he was working and couldn't take a call. So I put a hot dog bun in the oven and took a picture of it and sent it as a text. The sad thing is, I had such a crappy cell phone that many of my picture texts don't get to him or get to him much later than I send them.
When I got to pick him up from work, I was just about bursting! I asked him if he got my text and he hadn't! I was really disappointed. So I handed him my phone and told showed him what I sent. He looked at it, smiled and said, "we've still got it!" We are both so happy.
Now I wasn't sure how far along I was. My period was in October, but the negative test on the 5th meant that I couldn't be too far along. So I went in to the doctor. We got some bloodwork and an ultrasound that told us I was 5 weeks along. The u/s was basically just a blob, not much of a baby yet. I'll get another one done probably around 20 weeks.
I've felt pretty good. I am so tired most of the time. The last time I was pregnant I was 26. Now I'm 35. Not a spring chicken anymore. But I feel so ready to have a new baby. I have so much more experience. My kids are all older and can do so much for themselves. This baby is going to be so spoiled and loved! We are all pretty excited about him or her. Connor had a hard time when we first told him, but he's the type of kid who needs a while to get used to big changes. He'll be okay and I know he'll love having a baby around.
